IPT provides a variety of services to more than a dozen separate cogeneration, small power production, and thermal energy generation facilities throughout the western United States.  IPT serves over 26 MW of generating equipment on a regular basis and provides services to 72 MW of installed capacity.  In addition, IPT provides plant design consulting, project development, and startup services to cogeneration facilities in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia.

Complete OM&M Responsibility 

IPT provides complete 24-7 operation, maintenance, and management services to two 6 MW gas turbine plants in California.  IPT also has complete responsibility for a 2 MW landfill-gas fueled piston engine plant and a landfill compression station in northern California. The owners of these plants include facility hosts as well as independent third parties.

IPT buys natural gas and backup fuels, arranges gas transport, sets operating strategy, reports emissions, prepares financial reports, handles accounts payable and receivable, manages contracts and relations with electric utilities, does virtually all on-site service, upgrade, and retrofit activities, and schedules and manages off-site engine overhaul.

Operating Services

On-site, 24-hour operating services are provided by IPT at four sites.  IPT employees operate the facility under IPT management supervision.  This frees the plant owner to focus on the financial and strategic issues facing the plant rather than routine day to day management.   IPT can tailor its operating services to suit customer needs; at one plant IPT supplied a two-person crew of cogeneration specialists who were on-site only during the critical daytime weekday shifts, supplementing the licensed operators of the host facility's nearby boiler house.

Short term operating services can also be provided by IPT.  For example, IPT provided a full time operator, with experience in gas turbine operations and maintenance, to a customer who was starting up an 11 MW cogeneration facility.  The full time IPT employee spent nearly one year on the site, bringing the host's boiler plant operating staff up to speed with gas turbine, HRSG, and controls training and operating support.
